Lead vocalist and keyboard player Jonah’s creative re-harmonisation of famous pop songs is as technically complex as within much of modern jazz, and his vocal runs more than give Beyoncé Knowles and Christina Aguilira a run for their money.
Henrik on bass plays in a way comparable only to the ultra-fast and technical, stride piano technique.
Aaron on drums uses rhythmic fills so complex and dynamic that a feat of mathematics is performed just to fit all of the notes into each bar.
“Dirty Loops is undeniably the next level in popular music,” says Josiah Woodson, aprofessional trumpet player whose portfolio includes recordings with Beyoncé.
“Their music has the danceability of a common beat-machined pop tune, but with all the spontaneity and thorough composition of a Jazz set, as well as the hip and tight funkiness of only the most serious of the funk and fusion groups.”
“Dirty Loops is the perfect group to bring everyone from the true jazz-heads, to the pop music and Radio-listening crowds together,” he said.
Since the band first posted their work on YouTube, an avalanche of popular support has gathered momentum - and rightly so.
“Finally!” Josiah said, “A modern pop group whose musicianship is second-to-none – and is recognised for it.”
The reaction of fans speaks for itself:
“Dirty Loops literally brings tears to the eye.”
“There are no words that can EXPRESS how damn dope, awesome, sick, ill, crazy this is holy s***!!!!!!!! those vocals, the whole band, his RIFFS!!!!!! DAMN DAMN DAMN”
On Twitter, the rush of new Dirty Loops devotees clambering to tell their friends about the band is deafening:
“Oh, you haven't heard of them yet?? GOOOOOO LOOK THEM UP NOW! My mind has been blown”
“Stop what you're doing & listen to #DirtyLoops. Swedish Pop/Jazz fusion. Who knew Beiber & Britney could sound this SICK!”
“I am obsessed with Dirty Loops. Total badasses turning s**** songs into Stevie Wonder/SteelyDan-ish awesomeness”
After hundreds of thousands of hits and whirlwind success online, the group is now recording a debut album of their own material.
