Expect the 2011 ARIA nominated artist Blue King Brown to groove hard at this year’s WOMADelaide Festival, premiering songs with a mix of original roots and electronic sounds.
Led by Natalie Pa’apa’a, a voice deemed by Rolling Stone to be “like a natural successor for Lauryn Hill’s onetime girl-power crown”, this local urban roots crew has just return from their international tours showcasing their latest album WORLDWIZE Part 1.
“We travelled to Kingston Jamaica to record all of the vocals and collaborated with some legendary Jamaican artist while we were there including, Sly and Robbie, Queen Ifrica and Jah Mason,” said Natalie.
The lead singer is eager to be playing their new single N.F.A.(Never Fade Away) for WOMAD audiences.
The hot-off-the-tracks single features US dubstep producer Wick-It The Instigator, a great collaboration added to an already powerful performance.
Blue King Brown is most famous for their political and activist lyrics, which partner with their reggae-style and Afrobeat to produce a truly unique experience.
“When we started Blue King Brown we didn't have a plan to be a band that sings about social or political issues, we primarily wanted to write kick ass music because we are musicians first,” said the multi-talented singer.
“When I create songs that address some of the important issues of today, I am being true to my heart and that simply feels good...or right,” she said.
“Like any artist there is a sense of fulfilling when you serve your inspiration or muse truthfully. My muse inspires me to sing about our world, our environment, the unique time we live in and the chance we have to build a new future free from corruption and the degradation of our Earth for the profit of a few,” she said.
In the words of Carlos Santana, “The voice of the street and the band of the future!” WOMAD audiences are sure to be in for one hell of a good time.
